Natalie Medlock is a writer, actor and film director. She began as an actor – a graduate from NZ’s National Drama School Toi Whakaari - originally devising theatre before moving into screen. Ardently pursuing her dream to write and direct film, she is currently in postproduction for second short The Pact: a moving film about euthanasia. “I’m passionate about filmmaking that excavates the human struggle and reaches out to audiences with the hope that they might not feel so alone.”
Currently Natalie is Associate Story Producer on Neighbours. Previous work includes storylining for South Pacific Picture’s and Australian Channel 7’s 800 Words, writing for TV2’s comedy Agent Anna (nominated for Best Comedy at prestigious Script Writers Awards (SWANZ) 2014) and storylining and writing for TV3’s Almighty Johnson’s (nominated for Best Drama at the SWANZ Awards 2013).
Natalie began her writing career storylining and writing for Shortland Street and also has experience writing for children’s TV, with Channel Four’s The Moe Show. She has also written NZ Film Commission funded comedy feature Shearing the Love, which is in production with preeminent Four Knights Films, and also has a feature Daisy Chain in development with the NZFC’s program 48+. Natalie also wrote and stared in NZ On Air Funded comedy webseries Yeti.
Theatrically Natalie wrote sell-out hit Christmas Monologue Shows Toys, and Christ Almighty! (nominated for Best New Play at SWANZ 2010). She also wrote and directed Michael Hurst’s solo show No Holds Bard.
